A frontline aspirant for the Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency in the 2027 general election, Hon. Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye, has formally declared her intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives.
Adeleye unveiled her ambition on Thursday at a gathering of party executives and stalwarts in Ajuwon/Akute Ward 6, Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Addressing party faithful at the meeting presided over by the Ward Chairman, Kabir Ajibola, the aspirant said her decision to begin her political journey from her ward was symbolic and reflected her strong connection with the grassroots.
“I am glad this is a gathering of our party leaders, grassroots mobilisers, youth groups, women leaders, and critical stakeholders united by a shared belief in purposeful leadership and a collective desire for progress. Indeed, this is significant in the birth of a renewed vision,” she said.
Adeleye described her aspiration as a call to service driven by responsibility, experience and a genuine desire to make a difference, adding that her decision to contest was in response to the yearning of the people for effective representation and inclusive development.
She said, “My ambition is not borne out of personal interest alone, but a response to the yearnings of our people for equitable development and quality representation.”
The aspirant expressed appreciation to the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, for appointing her as a commissioner and for supporting her in the discharge of her duties.
“I strongly convey my heartfelt appreciation to His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for appointing me as a commissioner in the state cabinet and for the support given to me. I also commend the ongoing and completed road infrastructure projects in my local government, especially in Ajuwon/Akute Ward,” she added.
Adeleye, who outlined her vision for the constituency, said her focus would be on economic empowerment and job creation, particularly for youths and women.
According to her, efforts would be made to support small and medium-scale enterprises, promote vocational training and attract investments that would stimulate local industries.
“Empowering our people economically remains the surest path to reducing poverty and ensuring community stability,” she said.
She also pledged to ensure responsive and inclusive representation, noting that she would maintain open communication with constituents to ensure their voices are reflected in governance.
The event was attended by the Local Government party Chairman, Oduwole Olumide; an aspirant for the Ogun Central Senatorial District, Muraina Banjoko; state assembly aspirants and other party stalwarts.
