The lawmaker representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, has expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, Governor Dapo Abiodun, and leaders of the All Progressives Congress following his emergence as the party’s consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State.
Adeola, who chairs the Senate Committee on Appropriations, described his adoption as a reflection of unity and collective resolve within the party.
His emergence was announced at a caucus strategic meeting held at the APC secretariat in Abeokuta, where Abiodun said the decision was backed by key aspirants and stakeholders.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Media Adviser, High Chief Kayode Odunaro, Adeola said, “I must specially thank Tinubu for his mentorship, guidance and support in my political journey. He, alongside Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has always supported my aspirations over the years.”
He added that the decision signalled a shift towards fairness, noting that Ogun West had yet to produce a governor since the creation of the state.
The senator also appreciated Abiodun for his support over the years. “The governor stood by me when I crossed over from Lagos State to Ogun West as a senator and has always supported my development initiatives,” he said.
Adeola further acknowledged the role of a former governor of the state, Olusegun Osoba, whom he described as a father figure.
“Baba Osoba worked tirelessly day and night for my aspiration and guided me rightly at critical junctures,” he added.
He also commended former governors Gbenga Daniel and Ibikunle Amosun for their contributions towards achieving consensus within the party.
The lawmaker praised the Ogun APC leadership for ensuring a peaceful process and lauded fellow aspirants for placing party unity above personal ambition.
“There are no winners or losers. The APC family has emerged stronger and more united,” he said.
Adeola called on party members and stakeholders to work together ahead of the 2027 elections, promising inclusive development if elected.
