Youth members of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State on Tuesday held a solidarity walk in Ijebu Ode to show support for Tinubu and Governor Dapo Abiodun.
The peaceful procession drew a large turnout of party supporters from different parts of the state.
The walk commenced at the Otunba Dipo Dina Stadium and moved through major streets of Ijebu Ode, with participants carrying banners, placards and APC flags.
Supporters chanted solidarity songs in endorsement of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the developmental programmes of the Abiodun administration in Ogun State.
Speaking with journalists during the walk, the National President of the APC Youth League, Comrade Olamide Lawal, described February 11 as a significant date in the political history of the state.
He recalled that supporters of Governor Abiodun were allegedly attacked at the same venue in 2019, noting that the governor eventually won the election despite the incident.
Lawal said that since 2020, APC youths have continued to mark the date through empowerment initiatives and freedom walks.
According to him, the exercise has become a symbol of resilience and commitment to the party’s ideals.
“Despite all odds, Governor Dapo Abiodun emerged victorious in 2019 and again in 2023. Since 2020, we have continued to mark this day with empowerment programmes and freedom walks,” he said.
He explained that the solidarity walk was organised to appreciate what he described as the visible performance of both leaders at the federal and state levels.
He added that Ogun youths were motivated by achievements recorded so far, particularly in governance and development.
“For a leader who has done so much, Ogun youths must show genuine love and unwavering support for Tinubu and Governor Abiodun. We will continue to mobilise and sensitise our youths about the achievements of the government. The confidence you see today is based on performance,” Lawal stated.
Also speaking, the Gateway State Coordinator of the APC Youth League, Fayomi Yunus, said the walk was aimed at reaffirming the loyalty of Ogun youths to the leadership of the party at both state and federal levels.
According to Yunus, APC youths in Ogun State remain committed to supporting policies and programmes that promote growth, stability and progress.
“We stand firmly behind Tinubu and Governor Dapo Abiodun. We believe in their vision and we are committed to supporting policies that will move our state and nation forward,” he said.
The National President of the National Association of Ogun State Students, Comrade Oluwafemi Ajayi, also commended ongoing federal reforms and the state government’s focus on infrastructure development, youth empowerment and economic growth.
Ajayi noted that the Abiodun administration has consistently prioritised initiatives targeted at job creation and the welfare of young people across the state, adding that students and youths would continue to support policies that deliver tangible benefits to the people.
