Isaac Fayose, social commentator and brother of former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, has alleged that neither Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, nor Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, can secure Rivers State for the All Progressives Congress (APC) or President Tinubu in the 2027 general election without electoral manipulation.
Fayose made the assertion in a video shared on his Facebook page on Saturday, speaking in a mix of English and Pidgin while commenting on the lingering political crisis in Rivers State.
“Make we no deceive ourselves. Both Wike and Fubara, none of them can win Rivers election for APC or Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 without rigging. The only person that can win Rivers State for Tinubu is INEC and the Police, not Fubara and not Wike,” he stated.
According to Fayose, the conflict between the former governor and his successor is not driven by public interest but rather a battle over control of the state’s resources.
“Fubara has saved a lot of money, and Wike is looking at this money. That is what they are fighting for,” he added.
He also questioned the effectiveness of recent political tours and outreach efforts by the APC camps in the state, describing them as largely unsuccessful attempts to influence voters with financial inducements.
“All the tours they have been doing to grease people’s hands in poverty are not up to 30,000 people. The real voters in Rivers State are just looking at them,” Fayose said.
Fayose further warned that the APC leaders’ lack of grassroots support could seriously undermine their chances, particularly if the Labour Party’s former 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, decides to contest in 2027.
“If Peter Obi is on the ballot, neither Wike nor Fubara can get 25 per cent of the total votes cast for APC in Rivers State,” he asserted.
