A chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Alhaji Buba Galadima, has criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, raising concerns about issues of foreign military presence, and national security strategy.
Galadima made the remarks during an interview on Frontline, a current affairs programme on Eagle 102.5 FM, Ilese-Ijebu, where he was quoted as saying that President Tinubu was “more of a coward” than former President Goodluck Jonathan. He also questioned reports suggesting the possibility of foreign troops operating on Nigerian soil without approval from the National Assembly.
During the interview, Galadima further alleged that former President Jonathan did not willingly relinquish power in 2015, claiming he did so under pressure linked to the United States. He also suggested that Nigeria’s current security approach reflects compliance with foreign interests rather than domestic priorities.
Galadima also argued that rather than relying on foreign military arrangements, Nigeria could invest more in equipment and machinery to strengthen its own fight against insurgency, banditry, and terrorism.
He added that with the military reportedly receiving a significant share of the national budget, more is expected in terms of safeguarding the country’s territorial integrity and protecting citizens from security threats.
