The Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, on Friday marked its 50th anniversary as alumni and students paid glowing tributes to the management of the institution, describing the golden jubilee as a symbol of sustained academic excellence and service to national development.
Leading the commendation, the Proudly FCEABITES’12 Set, through its Set Coordinator, Habeeb O. Sholabi, congratulated the Provost, Dr. Rafiu Adekola Soyele, and the National President of the Alumni Association, Alhaji Olalekan Hassan, on what it described as a historic milestone in the life of the college.
Sholabi, who spoke on behalf of the Students’ Union Government President, Mr. Odetunde Sulaimon, and members of the 2012 set, said the 50th anniversary celebration reflected five decades of leadership, innovation and impactful contribution to teacher education in Nigeria.
“This golden jubilee celebration is a remarkable milestone that reflects five decades of academic excellence, leadership, innovation and impactful service to education and national development,” he said.
According to him, the institution’s growth over the years is a product of visionary leadership, dedication and collective commitment by successive administrations, staff and alumni, noting that these efforts have sustained the legacy of the college and improved its standards.
The alumni further praised the current management for building on the achievements of the past while positioning the college for greater relevance in the education sector.
“We commend the visionary leadership, dedication and collective efforts that have sustained the institution’s legacy and elevated its standards over the years,” Sholabi added.
He reaffirmed the continued support of the alumni and students toward the progress of the institution, while offering prayers for greater achievements in the years ahead.
“We celebrate the remarkable journey of FCE, Abeokuta, and pray for continued progress, enduring success and greater accomplishments in the years ahead,” he said.
The Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, established in 1976, has remained one of Nigeria’s foremost colleges of education, producing generations of teachers and education professionals who have contributed to national growth and development.
