A leadership crisis has erupted in the Lagos State House of Assembly, as lawmakers have openly rejected Mudashiru Obasa’s claim that he remains the speaker of the house.
Addressing journalists at the assembly complex on Thursday, the lawmakers strongly reaffirmed their support for Mojisola Meranda, insisting that she is the rightful speaker of the house.
“Meranda remains our speaker, and we stand by that decision,” one of the lawmakers stated, dismissing Obasa’s claim to the position.
The situation highlights deepening tensions within the legislative arm, as Obasa, the former speaker, continues to lay claim to the leadership despite opposition from fellow legislators.
More details on the unfolding political standoff are expected soon.
