The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Hon. Olumide Jones, has extended warm felicitations to both Christian and Muslim faithful as they commence the Lent and Ramadan fasting periods.
In a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by his media aide, ‘Yanju Uwala, Hon. Jones described the season as a sacred time for reflection, sacrifice, self-discipline, and spiritual renewal.
He emphasized that fasting is an opportunity to draw closer to God through prayer, acts of compassion, and personal discipline.
He stated, “Just as Lent calls for discipline over the flesh and harmful habits, our foundation continues to champion awareness, advocacy, and youth engagement initiatives that promote healthy living and freedom from substance abuse.”
“As you embark on this holy journey, may your sacrifices bring transformation, your prayers bring peace, and your faith bring renewed strength. We believe that true spiritual growth also reflects in responsible living and positive community impact.”
Hon. Jones further urged Christians and Muslims to use the season to strengthen their relationship with God, avoid evil practices, and engage in peaceful activities.
“As this season begins, let everyone use this opportunity to relate well with his or her creator and live a more peaceful life, while embracing values that strengthen families and communities. Together, through faith and collective responsibility, we can build a safer, healthier, and greater society, which will transform into a better country.”
“May God grant you grace, strength, and abundant blessings throughout this holy season of Lent and Ramadan,” he added.
