The Ogun State Government has distanced itself from rumours alleging that the Ifa oracle has selected Prince Ademorin Aliu Kuye as the next Awujale of Ijebuland, declaring that it has neither endorsed nor supported any such outcome.
This position was contained in a press release issued by the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ogun State, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, who dismissed the circulating claims as false and misleading.
According to the Government, the process for the selection and installation of the next Awujale of Ijebuland is strictly guided by applicable laws, laid down procedures and recognised traditional customs.
It maintained that any suggestion that a candidate has been adopted through an oracle or any informal arrangement does not reflect the official position of the State.
The Government further announced that the process for filling the vacant stool of the Awujale has been halted. The decision, it said, followed the receipt of various complaints and petitions concerning the selection procedure.
It explained that the temporary suspension would allow for a thorough review to ensure that the process remains transparent, lawful and acceptable to all concerned stakeholders.
Reaffirming its commitment to peace and order, the Government stressed that it would continue to respect due process and traditional institutions across the state.
It advised members of the public to rely solely on official communications and refrain from spreading unverified information capable of creating tension or misunderstanding.
