In a major shake-up at the top of Nigeria’s police hierarchy, President Tinubu has appointed Assistant Inspector-General Tunji Disu as the country’s new Inspector-General of Police, replacing Kayode Egbetokun.
A presidency source confirmed the development on Tuesday, adding that an official announcement would be made shortly. “AIG Tunji Disu is the new IGP. Confirmed,” the source said, noting that the information has received double confirmation.
Efforts to obtain a comment from the Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
Further details on the leadership change, including the circumstances surrounding Egbetokun’s removal, are expected to be released in the coming hours.
