Sokoto State’s popular Kara Market, known for its bustling trade in grains and other food items, has been devastated by another fire outbreak, completely destroying shops and grain stores.
The inferno, which started in the early hours of Saturday, quickly spread across the market, leaving traders in despair as their goods were reduced to ashes.
Although the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, the Sokoto State Fire Service struggled to contain the flames but was unable to prevent the widespread destruction.
At the time of filing this report, shop and house owners near the market were seen hurriedly moving their belongings, fearing that the fire could reignite and spread further.
Efforts to reach the market’s management for comments proved unsuccessful as they were preoccupied with preventing looting and ensuring safety in the aftermath of the disaster.
