Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Tunde Lemo, has joined a host of Nigerians and global admirers in celebrating former President Olusegun Obasanjo as he marks his 89th birthday.
In a tribute released to mark the milestone, Lemo described Obasanjo as a distinguished statesman whose life and service continue to shape Nigeria’s democratic development and Africa’s diplomatic standing.
“Baba, I join the Nigerian people, particularly your devoted sons and daughters from Ogun State, and countless admirers worldwide, in extending my heartfelt congratulations on the momentous occasion of your 89th birthday,” Lemo stated.
He praised Obasanjo’s lifelong dedication to national development, democratic consolidation, and peace advocacy, noting that his leadership continues to inspire generations within Nigeria and across the continent.

Obasanjo, who served as Nigeria’s military Head of State from 1976 to 1979 and civilian President between 1999 and 2007, remains an influential figure in governance, democracy, and continental cooperation.
