A Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) serving with the Kwara State Command, Modestus Ojiebe, has been kidnapped in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, while attempting to fix his broken-down vehicle.

The incident occurred near the Dei-Dei Police Barracks when unidentified gunmen, driving an ash-colored Mercedes-Benz, stopped behind him and launched an attack.

According to counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama,
“While he was attempting to fix the vehicle, an ash-colored Mercedes-Benz with four armed occupants stopped behind him. The assailants searched and robbed Ojiebe and his wife of their mobile phones and ATM cards. However, upon discovering his police identity card, they forced him into their vehicle and sped off, leaving his wife and their car at the scene.”

Following the abduction, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Dawaki Division reportedly received a distress call and dispatched a patrol team to the scene. Security operatives have since launched stop-and-search operations at strategic entry and exit points of the FCT in an effort to rescue the officer and apprehend the kidnappers.

At least three independent security sources, including police officers, confirmed the development. One of them stated,
“The information is correct, but you know I am not permitted to speak on it, so don’t expect anything more from me on this, please.”

As of the time of filing this report, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Josephine Adeh, has yet to release an official statement on the incident.
