The Ogun State Government has approved the reconstruction of 11 roads across the three senatorial districts, reinforcing its commitment to infrastructure development.

Among the major roads slated for reconstruction is the Sango-Ijoko-Akute Road, a 17-kilometer arterial route connecting Ogun West to Ogun Central and Lagos.

Governor Dapo Abiodun emphasized the strategic importance of the road, stating, “The Sango-Ijoko-Akute road is a priority because of the high volume of daily migration between Ogun and Lagos. We are set to award the contract within a week.”

Other key roads approved include the Akute Bridge to Agbado (Lateef Jakande) Train Terminal/Pass/Agbado Bridge, which spans 9.2 kilometers. The Iperu Junction to Ilishan Roundabout (Gateway International Airport Road), measuring 5.5 kilometers, also made the list, along with the Imasayi-Igan Okoto-Ayetoro Road Phase 2B, covering 4 kilometers.

The Imasayi (end of phase 1) to Igan Okoto, Phase 2A, at 3 kilometers, and the Gao Junction to Ibiade Road, stretching 3.8 kilometers, were also approved.

Other roads set for reconstruction are the Abeokuta Obalende-Ijebu Ode Road, spanning 2.75 kilometers, the Osinubi New Road (Araromi Street) in Ijebu Ode, which is 1.1 kilometers long, and the Tam Balogun Road in Ijebu Ode, covering 0.85 kilometers.

The Federal College Road in Odogbolu, at 2.93 kilometers, and the General Hospital – Aferiku Road in Ipokia, which spans 2.8 kilometers, are also part of the approved projects.

The government has also approved the continuation of the Oke Erinja to Ilobi Road, extending 1.7 kilometers, fulfilling a promise made by Governor Abiodun during the commissioning of the Oke Erinja to Erinja Road.

“I have heard many times that the Erinja and Ilobi people are like Siamese twins, and I will not separate them. We will ensure the road ends at Ilobi,” he assured.

Governor Abiodun reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to infrastructure, particularly in border communities like Ifo Local Government, which experiences heavy daily migration.

“We have been engaging Ifo communities because of the volume of people commuting between Ogun and Lagos. Our border roads remain a priority,” he added.
