The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, popularly known as So-Safe Corps, has arrested a 27-year-old suspected burglar, Ayobami Akodun, for allegedly vandalising residential buildings and stealing aluminium windows in Ifo Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect was apprehended by operatives attached to the Seriki Kajola Divisional Headquarters under the Ifo 2 Area Command during an early morning routine patrol on Basirimi Street, Kajola Railway Station community.
According to a statement issued by the State Commander, Dr Soji Ganzallo, through the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Adegunwa Adegbuyi, the suspect was spotted behaving suspiciously at about 4:27 a.m. on September 6.
The statement said Akodun ignored an order to stop and fled, prompting a chase by the operatives, who eventually arrested him.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed that he had previously escaped after being arrested on two separate occasions before he was finally apprehended.
The Corps described him as a notorious burglar who specialised in removing aluminium windows from residential buildings within the Arepo Seriki community.
The statement added that the suspect led the operatives to two houses where he allegedly broke glass windows and removed the aluminium frames.
Akodun has since been handed over to the Lemode Police Station for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Corps reiterated its commitment to safeguarding communities across Ogun State and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest So-Safe Corps office.
