Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has mourned the death of veteran Nigerian actor, Oludotun Bayegun Jacobs, popularly known as Olu Jacobs, describing him as a true icon of Nigerian entertainment.
Sanwo-Olu, in a condolence message, said Jacobs was a pillar of modern Nigerian cinema who contributed immensely to the growth of the country’s entertainment industry over a career spanning more than five decades.
The governor said the late actor brought “grace and heart” to the screens while helping to shape Nigeria’s culture and paving the way for generations of creatives.
He noted that Jacobs’ remarkable talent and commanding presence earned him the respect and admiration of Nigerians and audiences beyond the country.
According to him, the veteran actor’s body of work will continue to remain part of the lives of Nigerians for years to come.
Sanwo-Olu expressed his condolences to Jacobs’ wife, veteran actress Joke Silva, as well as his family, friends, colleagues and admirers across the country.
He prayed that God would grant the deceased eternal rest and give his loved ones the strength to bear the loss.
“He will be deeply missed,” the governor said.
