A night curfew has been declared in Ijesaland from 9:30 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2025, to 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, as part of traditional rites preceding the coronation of His Imperial Majesty, Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup.
High Chief Olalekan Folorunso, the Loro of Ijesaland, announced the restriction in a statement on Sunday, urging residents and visitors to comply with the directive for the safety and smooth conduct of the coronation rites.
“The curfew is necessary to uphold the sanctity of our traditions as we prepare for this historic event. We appeal to all residents to respect the movement restriction for the collective good of Ijesaland,” Folorunso stated.
The statement further confirmed that the curfew will be lifted by 6:00 a.m. on March 18, allowing normal activities to resume.
Authorities have urged the public to adhere strictly to the directive, emphasizing that security agencies will ensure compliance throughout the period.
