In a bid to galvanize support ahead of its upcoming Ground-Breaking event, the Abeokuta Polo Club, on Monday, April 29, embarked on courtesy visits to key stakeholders, including the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).

The delegation was led by the Chairman of the Grand-Breaking Committee, Chief Abiodun Oladimeji Lasile, Orunto Baalufe of Owu Kingdom, Abeokuta, and accompanied by Hon. Isiaq Bada, a member of the committee.

The club’s first stop was at the 35 Artillery Brigade, Nigerian Army, Alamala Barracks, Abeokuta, where the delegation was received by the Chief of Staff on behalf of the Brigade’s Commandant, Brigadier General G.U. Nwamba.

During the meeting, the Chief of Staff assured the team of the military’s willingness to support the club’s initiatives, noting that Brig. Gen. Nwamba would be fully briefed on their proposals upon his return from an official engagement.

“The Nigerian Army is always ready to support community-driven and sporting initiatives that promote peace, discipline, and youth development,” the Chief of Staff stated.

The courtesy call continued at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, where discussions centered on forging partnerships in veterinary and agricultural development.

The committee explored opportunities for collaboration with FUNAAB, particularly in areas related to livestock health and sustainability, to further enhance the club’s broader community impact.

Concluding the day’s engagements, the committee visited the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters, where they were warmly received by the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, alongside senior police officials, including the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and ACP Legal.

CP Ogunlowo commended the club’s initiatives, pledging the command’s support toward ensuring a successful and secure event.

“The Nigeria Police Force welcomes every genuine effort that promotes sporting excellence, discipline, and community advancement.”

“We are proud to associate with the Abeokuta Polo Club and are committed to providing the needed support,” Ogunlowo said.

Speaking after the series of visits, Chief Lasile expressed appreciation to the stakeholders for their warm reception and assurances of partnership.

“These engagements reflect our club’s proactive approach to fostering community trust and collaboration. The Abeokuta Polo Club is about more than just polo—it’s about building bridges and making a positive impact,” he said.
