Borussia Dortmund have officially signed England youth international Jobe Bellingham from Sunderland on a five-year deal that will keep him at the Bundesliga club until June 2030.

The move marks a significant milestone for both clubs, with Sunderland confirming it as a club-record transfer, reportedly worth €32 million (£26.96 million), with an additional €5 million (£4.2 million) in performance-related add-ons.

Bellingham, 19, was instrumental in Sunderland’s promotion to the Premier League last season, having made 90 appearances since joining the club in 2023.

In a farewell message published on Sunderland’s official website, Bellingham expressed deep gratitude for his time at the club and the support he received from fans.

“I’m proud of the strong relationship I’ve built with Sunderland supporters. I will always represent Wearside in all that I strive to achieve for the rest of my career, wherever that may be,” he said.

Born and raised in a footballing family, Bellingham began his professional journey with Birmingham City, coming through their academy system before stepping into senior football. He spent two seasons with the Blues before his move to Sunderland.

During the 2024/25 season, Bellingham’s standout performances earned him the Championship Young Player of the Season award, further solidifying his reputation as one of England’s brightest midfield prospects.

With the transfer finalised before June 10, Bellingham is eligible to feature for Dortmund at the FIFA Club World Cup, which kicks off this Sunday.

Jobe now follows in the footsteps of his older brother, Jude Bellingham, who also emerged from Birmingham City’s academy and made a name for himself at Dortmund before moving to Real Madrid in 2023.
