Over 160 students from Prince and Princess Imperial Secondary School, Ogun State, have been empowered with practical knowledge in mobile photography and AI-driven digital tools, as part of this year’s World Youth Skills Day celebration.

The event, which held on July 16, 2025, was part of the Smart Clicks Project facilitated by Felifort Consulting Ltd and led by Ifeoluwa Adesanya.

The training was in line with the global theme for the 2025 edition of World Youth Skills Day — “Youth Empowerment through AI and Digital Skills.”

Participants, ranging from Primary 5 to SS2, were introduced to the basics of mobile phone photography, including key concepts like lighting, composition, framing, and visual storytelling.

Forty-seven highly motivated students were later selected for the practical sessions, where they applied their skills using smartphones and explored AI-powered editing apps such as Remini, Snapseed, Canva AI, and Photoshop Camera.

Speaking during the training, the facilitator and lead consultant, Ifeoluwa Adesanya, emphasized the importance of preparing young learners for the evolving digital world.

“We believe in unlocking creativity at an early stage. Through this initiative, we are showing young people how to turn everyday devices like their phones into powerful tools for innovation and storytelling,” Adesanya said.

“Beneath every smart device is a smarter mind. What we have done today is awaken that creative mind in our students. This kind of exposure can change the trajectory of a child’s future,” she added.

Aside from technical skill acquisition, the project also encouraged students to embrace ethical digital practices. Participants were taught the importance of digital citizenship, including respecting intellectual property, observing online etiquette, and using technology responsibly.

The program featured a peer-to-peer photo showcase session where selected students presented their edited photo stories, receiving feedback from facilitators and fellow students.

A career talk segment was also held, introducing learners to various opportunities in content creation, digital photography, and AI-driven innovation.

At the close of the event, many of the students expressed enthusiasm to continue exploring the world of tech and digital media. Some shared personal reflections on how the experience had opened their eyes to new possibilities.

As part of the sustainability plan, Felifort Consulting announced a follow-up community-based mentorship training to be held in Mawuko. The session will provide extended support, access to digital tools, and platforms for exhibitions and competitions, in partnership with the Mawuko Community Development Association.

Adesanya called for support to expand the initiative, saying:

“What we have done in this school is only a glimpse of what’s possible. With the right support, we can scale this to reach more schools, especially in underserved communities. The future is digital, and our youth must not be left behind.”
