The Ogun State House of Assembly Committee on Commerce and Industry has commended the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment for the successful organisation of the 14th Gateway International Trade Fair, while also urging the Ministry to intensify its efforts in revenue generation and streamline its tax collection processes.

Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Adebisi Oyedele, gave the commendation and charge during the ongoing 2025 mid-year budget performance review at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

While noting the Ministry’s strides during the period under review, Oyedele encouraged its leadership to work towards eliminating instances of multiple taxation and ensure that all projected revenue targets for the year are met.

He also stressed the need to consolidate on existing economic gains made through trade facilitation and industrial growth.

The Committee further invited the Ogun State Economic Transformation Project (OGSTEP) to appear before it on Wednesday at 2:00 PM for its own performance appraisal.

In his earlier remarks, the Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Adebola Sofela, informed the lawmakers that the Ministry had generated ₦261 million so far this year. He described the 14th Gateway International Trade Fair, held in collaboration with OGUNCCIMA, as one of the major milestones of the review period.

The fair, themed “Energy and Agriculture as Panacea of Economic and Sustainable Multi-Sectoral Growth: Ogun Pathway to Economic Prosperity,” was said to have fostered business partnerships and showcased the state’s investment potential.

Mr. Sofela also highlighted improvements in road haulage revenue collection, crediting the deployment of new agents to toll points and the automation of internal processes for increased efficiency.
