President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Deputy Controller-General, Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, as the new Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service.

According to a statement released on Tuesday by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), Adeyemi’s appointment will take effect from August 14, 2025.

He replaces the outgoing Controller-General, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji Olola, who is due for retirement on August 11 upon reaching the mandatory age of 60.

Until his appointment, Adeyemi was in charge of Human Resources at the Federal Fire Service headquarters. He previously served with the FCT Fire Service before moving to the federal level and has undergone several mandatory in-service trainings, command courses, and professional development programmes both within and outside the country.

The new Controller-General is a fellow of various professional bodies, including the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Treasury Management of Nigeria.

The CDCFIB, in a statement signed by its Secretary, Major General A.M. Jibril (Rtd), commended Engr. Olola for what it described as his “outstanding leadership and numerous contributions to the growth and transformation of the Fire Service.”
