The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, popularly known as So-Safe Corps, has arrested a man described as a notorious motorcycle thief in the state.

In a statement on Saturday, the Director of Information and Public Relations of the Corps, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf, said the arrest followed swift action by operatives under the command of the State Commander, Dr. Soji Ganzallo.

According to the statement, the Ado-Odo/Igbesa Area Commander, ACC Oluti Kehinde, received a complaint from a resident over the theft of a “lady” motorcycle. Acting on the directive of the Area Commander, the Corps’ surveillance team intensified patrols and, on August 7 at about 2:30am, intercepted one Falade Wasiu, a resident of Akashu Village, along the Ado-Odo town road in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area.

Yusuf said, “The suspect was found in possession of the stolen ‘lady’ motorcycle with registration number MUS 398 QP, a black plastic TVS, three gas lighters, and an MTN SIM card.”

Preliminary investigations revealed that Wasiu, alongside an accomplice identified as Wale, stole the motorcycle about five months ago from Ajegunle, in the Atan-Ota area.

The duo reportedly scaled the perimeter fence of the premises before making away with the bike, which they kept hidden in an uncompleted building. Wasiu was allegedly on his way to Oshodi to sell it when the Corps intercepted him.

The suspect reportedly confessed to having stolen several motorcycles in the past and also admitted that he once escaped from police custody.

Commander Ganzallo confirmed that the suspect and the recovered items have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Ado-Odo Division, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
