A female passenger arriving on an Ibom Air flight from Uyo caused a scene at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Sunday, after allegedly slapping a flight attendant and confronting airport security officials.

The drama, captured in several videos circulating on social media, showed the visibly agitated woman, dressed in a white top and black trousers, shouting at officials who tried to calm her. In one clip, she appeared to physically assault a female air hostess as shocked travellers looked on.

Eyewitnesses claimed she ignored repeated instructions from the crew before the confrontation escalated.

Airport police stepped in to restore order as the incident disrupted activities around the arrival area.

Reacting to the development, Michael Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), linked the confrontation to the passenger’s refusal to follow crew instructions, particularly the directive to switch off her mobile phone during landing.

“When cabin crew ask you to turn off your phone before takeoff or landing, simply comply. I can’t understand why simple routine issues would lead to incidents like this. Passengers need to understand they have responsibilities, not just rights,” Achimugu stated on X, adding that further details will be made public.

The disruption comes just days after the NCAA slammed a six-month flight ban on popular Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, known as KWAM1, over alleged in-flight misconduct.
