Chelsea have cancelled Nicolas Jackson’s loan move to Bayern Munich after Liam Delap suffered a serious injury that has ruled him out for several months.
The 24-year-old striker had already travelled to Germany to complete his switch to the Bundesliga giants. However, the deal was abruptly halted when Chelsea informed Bayern that Jackson would be returning to London.
According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, the Blues decided to pull the plug on the transfer following Delap’s injury in last week’s clash with Fulham.
With Delap sidelined and Joao Pedro the only other senior striker available, manager Enzo Maresca insisted on keeping Jackson to avoid a shortage in attacking options.
The Senegal international has shown flashes of brilliance at Stamford Bridge, and his retention is seen as vital to Chelsea’s push for silverware this season.
