The Ogun State Government has announced that its planned comprehensive road maintenance exercise will cover all local government areas across the state.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Works, Engr. Babatunde Adesina, gave the assurance on Tuesday during an inspection of the Leme–Abiola Way–Madojutimi roads in Abeokuta.
Adesina explained that the initiative is a clear demonstration of the Abiodun-led administration’s commitment to making road networks in both rural and urban communities accessible, durable and beneficial to residents.
He said, “We will ensure that all parts of the state’s roads are touched by the road maintenance gang as the present administration is determined to make road networks across Ogun State accessible and durable.”
“The exercise is not just about patching roads; it is about making life easier for our people and supporting commerce. Better roads will translate into reduced travel time, safer journeys, and stronger economic activities for our communities.”
According to him, the government is giving equal attention to roads in cities and rural areas in order to boost local businesses, enhance connectivity, and improve the overall economy of the state.
Some residents expressed optimism over the project, describing it as a welcome development that will ease transportation challenges and encourage socio-economic activities in their communities once completed.
The road maintenance exercise is expected to begin soon with a statewide rollout that will cover all 20 local government areas.
