Team Brazil has emerged as the overall winner of the E1 Lagos Grand Prix, securing their first-ever victory in the prestigious all-electric powerboat racing series.
Powered by their pole position from Saturday’s qualifying, the Brazilian team cruised to victory on Sunday, outpacing Team Blue Rising and Team Drogba who finished second and third respectively.
Led by powerboat pilot Timmy Hansen, Team Brazil maintained an impressive lead throughout the group races, the race-off, and the final round to claim the top spot on the podium.
With the win, Team Brazil earned 38 points, raising their total to 89 points, though they still remain behind in the overall championship standings ahead of the season’s final race in Miami next month.
The Lagos GP marked a historic moment as Lagos became the first African city to host the E1 World Championship, often described as the “Formula One of the seas.”
Speaking about the competition, an official of the E1 Series said the Lagos event reflects the growing global appeal of the sport and its commitment to innovation and sustainability.
“E1 is more than just a race; it’s a statement about the future of clean energy and marine innovation. Lagos has shown it is ready to lead on this global stage,” the official noted.
The E1 Championship, co-founded by Alejandro Agag and Rodi Basso, was created to promote greener marine transport while delivering high-speed entertainment on water.
The Lagos GP, which served as the penultimate race of the season, has set the tone for a thrilling championship finale in Miami where the top teams will battle for the ultimate title.
