Former Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Olootu Ogooluwa Bankole, a prominent industrialist and businessman, who died on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at the age of 77.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Amosun described Bankole’s demise as a great loss to Ogun State and Nigeria, highlighting his immense contributions to the socio-economic development of the country.

“Olootu Bankole was a visionary entrepreneur whose legacy will live on through his numerous achievements. His pioneering role in the industrial sector, particularly as the founder of Premier Paints PLC, Nigeria’s first indigenous paint company to be listed on the Stock Exchange, remains a testament to his brilliance and dedication,” Amosun stated.

The former governor also commended Bankole’s leadership, resilience, and selflessness, noting that his efforts had sustained Premier Paints PLC for over four decades.

Beyond his business acumen, Amosun praised Bankole’s commitment to education, particularly through the establishment of Mercyland International School in Abeokuta. “Through this institution, he not only provided quality education but also instilled strong values in young minds, helping to shape future generations,” he added.

Amosun further acknowledged Bankole’s deep-rooted love for his community and his relentless pursuit of progress in Owuland, Ibogunland, Egbaland, and Gbagura. “His passion for development was evident in his unwavering commitment to the growth of these communities. He will be sorely missed,” he said.

The former governor prayed for the repose of Bankole’s soul and for divine strength for his family in this difficult time.
