The Nigerian Football Federation has dismissed reports suggesting that Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is set to leave the team’s camp at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

A top NFF official, speaking through FIFA and CAF accredited journalist Adepoju Samuel, confirmed that the misunderstanding involving Osimhen and fellow forward Ademola Lookman during Nigeria’s round of 16 clash against Mozambique has been fully resolved.

Samuel disclosed the clarification on his X handle on Tuesday, quoting the official as saying, “Everything has been sorted since last night, and we are all good.

There was no discussion about Osimhen leaving the tournament. The issue has been resolved as a family.”

The incident occurred in the 63rd minute of Nigeria’s 4–0 victory over Mozambique when Osimhen reacted angrily after Lookman missed a scoring opportunity while he was unmarked.

The Galatasaray striker was seen shouting at Lookman and had to be restrained by captain Wilfred Ndidi. He was later substituted and booed by some fans inside the stadium.

The episode sparked criticism on social media, with some fans questioning Osimhen’s conduct despite the team’s commanding performance.

However, signs of reconciliation soon emerged as Lookman shared photos of himself with Osimhen and Bruno Onyemaechi after the match. Posting on his Instagram page on Tuesday, the Atalanta forward wrote, “TOGETHER ALWAYS.”

Both the Super Eagles coach, Eric Chelle, and team captain, Wilfred Ndidi, have also played down the incident, insisting there is no rift within the squad. They urged Nigerians to continue supporting the team as preparations intensify for the quarter final clash against either Algeria or DR Congo.
