After spending 12 days in captivity, the National President of the Afenifere Youth Council, Eniola Olajuni, has regained his freedom from his abductors.
His release was confirmed on Saturday by the National Secretary of the Youth Council, Biodun Aderohunmu, who simply stated in a WhatsApp message to our correspondent, “He has been released.”
Olajuni was kidnapped on Monday, February 17, 2025, while traveling to Abuja for a scheduled meeting. His abductors had demanded a ransom of N100 million and two tricycles for his release.
The incident gained national attention when a distressing video surfaced online, showing Olajuni at gunpoint, pleading with Nigerians to assist in securing his freedom.
In response to the situation, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, on Wednesday, ordered the deployment of the Intelligence Response Team to track down the kidnappers and ensure the safe rescue of the Afenifere Youth Leader.
Details of his release remain unclear, including whether any ransom was paid or if security operatives played a direct role in securing his freedom.
