Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has condoled with the All Progressives Congress following the death of its South-West Zonal Woman Leader, Arabinrin Yetunde Shakirat Adesanya.
Adesanya reportedly died on Thursday evening at her residence in Lagos after a prolonged illness.
In a condolence message on Friday, Abiodun described her death as a huge loss to the ruling party and the nation, noting that she was a committed party loyalist, grassroots mobiliser, and passionate advocate of women’s participation in politics and governance.
The governor said the late APC chieftain dedicated her life to the growth and stability of the party, particularly in the South-West, where she played a significant role in strengthening the women’s wing through mobilisation, mentorship, and selfless service.
He noted that Adesanya’s dedication, humility, and commitment to progressive ideals earned her widespread respect and admiration among party members and political associates across the country.
Abiodun said, “Her death is painful and devastating. Ogun State and the APC family have lost a courageous, dependable, and highly resourceful woman whose contributions to party development and women empowerment will never be forgotten.”
The governor commiserated with the immediate family of the deceased, the leadership of the APC, and party members across the South-West over the loss.
He prayed for the repose of her soul and urged her family, friends, and political associates to take solace in the impactful life she lived.
Adesanya was widely recognised within the APC for her commitment to grassroots mobilisation and efforts aimed at increasing the participation of women in politics and leadership.
