Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former lawmaker, Senator Ayodeji Otegbola, describing him as a distinguished politician, selfless leader, and advocate of community development.

Otegbola, who represented Ogun West Senatorial District in the Red Chamber during the aborted Third Republic, passed away on Monday at the age of 91.

In a condolence message, Governor Abiodun paid tribute to the late Asiwaju of Aworiland, highlighting his dedication to grassroots politics and commitment to the development of Ogun State and Nigeria.

“Senator Ayo Otegbola exemplified the essence of a thought leader with a Midas touch. As the Chairman of the Federal Housing Authority between 2002 and 2004, he brought his deep expertise in estate surveying to bear on the job, accelerating housing schemes across Nigeria, including the FCT,” Abiodun said.

The governor further emphasized Otegbola’s impact, noting that his contributions to housing development remain visible. “His legacy projects in Gwarinpa Housing Scheme and many others around the FCT cannot be overemphasized. He was indeed an achiever and a great leader,” he added.

Abiodun acknowledged the late senator’s unwavering passion for unity and progress, stating that his footprints in governance and community service will remain indelible in the hearts of many.

“We will sorely miss him in Ogun State and Nigeria at large. May God Almighty rest his soul and protect the lovely family he left behind,” he prayed.
