Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has intensified efforts to position the state as Nigeria’s leading investment hub, wooing Taiwanese multinational conglomerate and global tech giant, Foxconn, to set up its manufacturing plant in the state.
Speaking during a meeting with a delegation from the company at the Gateway City Gate, Interchange, along the Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway, the governor said his administration has created an enabling environment that makes Ogun the preferred destination for global investors.
Abiodun, who described himself as Ogun State’s “Chief Marketing Officer,” assured that his government would continue to showcase the state’s unique advantages, including its strategic location, industrial base, skilled workforce, and investor-friendly policies.
“Ogun has aligned itself with global trends in digital competitiveness and innovation. By unveiling our tech hubs, supporting digital entrepreneurs, and encouraging international partnerships, we have made the state a magnet for global investors,” Abiodun said.
The governor stressed that his administration’s fiscal creativity and digital transformation agenda have not only enhanced internally generated revenue but also boosted transparency and accountability through the introduction of advanced geo-mapping systems.
According to him, this has closed loopholes in land allocation, strengthened tax remittances, and built confidence among investors.
He called on both local and foreign investors to take advantage of the reforms and opportunities in the state, adding that Ogun is fast cementing its place as one of Africa’s most attractive destinations for innovation and economic growth.
On their part, the Foxconn delegation led by Mr. Vincent Lee, AVP Corporate BD Chairman Office, expressed readiness to explore opportunities in Ogun. Lee said Foxconn, the world’s largest contract electronics manufacturer with annual revenue of over $200 billion, is interested in smart manufacturing, technology infrastructure, and industrial development.
“We are here in Ogun State today to meet with Mr. Governor to discuss investment opportunities that will lead to setting up our business here,” Lee said.
Other members of the Foxconn team included Mr. Jesse Chao, Senior Director, Corporate BD Chairman Office, and Mr. Brian Chen, Counselor, Government Relations.
