Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has congratulated Brigadier-General Nafiu Olakunle on his appointment as the new Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) by President Bola Tinubu.
According to a statement signed by the spokesperson to the Osun State Governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke described Brig. Gen. Olakunle as a “fine and disciplined professional” whose appointment is a recognition of his distinguished military career.
Expressing confidence in the new NYSC DG, Adeleke emphasized Olakunle’s capacity to uphold the agency’s mandate by deepening national values among young people and preparing them for future endeavors. He noted that the Ile-Ogbo-born officer’s exploits in the military are reassuring and a testament to his competence for the role.
“The appointment of Brigadier-General Olakunle is an affirmation of his capacity and dedication. I am extremely delighted that one of Osun’s finest citizens has been entrusted with this strategic role,” the governor stated.
Adeleke further extended his appreciation to President Tinubu for granting another Osun indigene an opportunity to contribute to national development. He urged Brig. Gen. Olakunle to use his tenure to strengthen the NYSC, ensuring the successful implementation of its programs while positively representing Osun State.
“I hope Brigadier-General Olakunle’s tenure will not only move the NYSC forward but also bring glory to our state,” Adeleke remarked.
The governor wished the new NYSC Director-General a successful tenure and expressed hope that his leadership would strengthen the institution and its impact on Nigerian youths.
