Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has been formally installed as the Okanlomo of ‘Yorubaland’ by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I.
The ceremony took place on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at the Alaafin’s Palace in Oyo Town, drawing notable dignitaries and traditional leaders from across the region.
Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly and Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, described the honour as well deserved.
He commended Seyi Tinubu for his growing influence among the youth and his philanthropic engagements, stressing that the chieftaincy title carries a deeper significance beyond ceremonial recognition.
“This is not just a traditional title; it is a call to service and recognition of leadership potential,” Ogundoyin said. He added that the title embodies values cherished by the Yoruba people, including excellence, community service, and legacy.
The event has also drawn attention in recent months following a private meeting between Seyi Tinubu, Nollywood actress Fathia Balogun Williams, and Alapini, an encounter that sparked widespread discussion on social media.
