Former Governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, and the lawmaker representing Abeokuta South Federal Constituency, Afolabi Afuape, on Saturday joined party faithful during the All Progressives Congress presidential primary ward exercise held in Abeokuta, Ogun State, amid a massive turnout of supporters.
The exercise, which took place at Ward 6, Itoko area of Abeokuta, saw hundreds of APC members queue in line under the Option A4 voting system to reaffirm support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the exercise, Amosun described the turnout as a strong demonstration of support for Tinubu and the ruling APC across the country.
He said, “Today is very special because it is for the President, and we all must come out to show that we are for the President and for the APC. That is why I am here.”
The former governor added that the orderly conduct and enthusiasm displayed by party members reflected unity within the party.
“You can see that our people are excited and eager to be part of what is going on. We are orderly, and that is how it should be. All of us are speaking with one voice. There is no division. We are for Mr President today,” he stated.
On the governorship primary earlier conducted by the party, Amosun said APC members in the state had already aligned on a common position.
“We did the one for the governor earlier, and all of us are in sync. What is happening today is just a reaffirmation of what we have done,” he added.
Also speaking, Afuape said the large turnout at the ward exercise showed the growing acceptance of Tinubu across the country.
He commended members of the ward for participating in large numbers, describing the development as a positive sign for the APC ahead of the next general election.
Afuape also praised Amosun for taking part in the exercise, saying the former governor’s participation further reflected unity within the party.
He expressed confidence that the ward would deliver one of the highest votes for Tinubu during the 2027 presidential election.
