Former Minister of Interior and ex-Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a principled statesman who served Nigeria with conviction and integrity.

In a heartfelt tribute shared on Sunday, Aregbesola said the passing of the former president was a solemn moment for the nation, as Buhari represented an era of public service rooted in discipline, honesty, and national unity.

“INNA LILLAHI WA INNA ILAIHIR RAJI’UN. Today we bid farewell to President Muhammadu Buhari, a leader who served Nigeria with deep conviction and unwavering principle. His commitment to integrity and national unity defined his public service,” he wrote.

Aregbesola noted that while Nigeria has lost a strong figure of patriotism, the country has gained the enduring example of a man who stood firmly by his values, even in the face of criticism.

“May Allah forgive him, accept his service, and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus. Our prayers are with his family and all Nigerians in this moment of reflection,” he added.

Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s Head of State from 1984 to 1985 and later as elected President from 2015 to 2023, died in London after a prolonged illness. His passing has continued to draw tributes from leaders across the country.
