Arsenal’s impressive run of form continued on Wednesday night as Mikel Arteta’s youthful side cruised to a 2-0 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion, booking their place in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.

The north London club, who fielded four teenagers including 15-year-old Max Dowman, showed class and composure beyond their years.

Dowman became the youngest player ever to start a competitive match for a Premier League side, and his fearless performance was met with loud applause from the Emirates faithful.

After a cagey first half in which Brighton failed to make their dominance count, Arsenal’s young stars took control. Ethan Nwaneri, 18, opened the scoring in the 57th minute after a delightful exchange with fellow academy graduate Myles Lewis-Skelly.

The goal was a testament to Arsenal’s famed youth system, which continues to produce talented prospects ready for top-flight football.

Bukayo Saka, wearing the captain’s armband, later doubled the lead in the 76th minute, pouncing on a rebound after a surging run by Jurrien Timber.

The England international’s calm finish sealed Arsenal’s eighth consecutive victory in all competitions and their sixth straight clean sheet.

Arteta praised his young team for their composure and hunger, saying, “This is what Arsenal is about developing players who understand our style, our values, and our belief. The boys played with courage and intelligence. I’m very proud of them.”

Brighton, managed by Fabian Hurzeler, will rue several missed chances in the first half, including a clear opportunity for Vasilios Tzimas in the opening ten minutes.

Despite their experience advantage, the Seagulls could not find a way past Arsenal’s organized backline.

Arsenal will now turn their attention to the Premier League, where they remain four points clear at the top of the table.

Their Carabao Cup journey, led by both academy talents and experienced stars, has once again shown the depth and promise within the Emirates ranks.
