Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has initiated a statewide consultation with key stakeholders to address ongoing controversies surrounding local government leadership in the state.

As part of the engagement, he is set to brief the Osun State Council of Traditional Rulers on Thursday while also visiting notable political figures.

Kicking off the consultation process, Governor Adeleke on Tuesday paid a visit to elder statesman and former governor of Osun State, Chief Bisi Akande, at his Ibadan residence.

The meeting, attended by top state officials, provided a platform for discussions on pressing state and national issues, including the legal disputes over local government administration.

Addressing the local government controversy, Governor Adeleke reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and urged all parties involved to refrain from self-help.

He reiterated the importance of resolving disputes through legal channels to prevent violence and destruction.

“There is a need for all stakeholders to avoid resorting to self-help to prevent further loss of lives and properties,” the governor stated. “I urge all parties to return to court to express their viewpoints through due process.”

On national politics, Governor Adeleke commended Chief Akande for his contributions to maintaining political stability in the country.

He also reaffirmed Osun State’s support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, highlighting the positive collaboration between the state and the Federal Government across various sectors.

“Our father, we are here to pay homage to you as my predecessor and as an elder statesman. I am also going around to brief our leaders on recent developments in our dear state”.

“Your relationship with the Adeleke family dates back to my late father. I chose to start this consultation with you”, Adeleke stated.

In his response, Chief Akande welcomed the governor’s visit despite their political differences, describing the gesture as commendable.

He emphasized the need for peace and adherence to the rule of law, cautioning against political violence.

“Bloodshed in the name of politics is unacceptable,” Akande stated. “All parties must submit to the rule of law and avoid self-help.”
