The Ekiti State Government has cautioned motorists and travelers entering the state to adhere strictly to newly outlined alternative routes, following reports of bad portions on federal roads leading into Ado-Ekiti.
In a travel advisory issued at the weekend, the government reassured residents and visitors of its commitment to ensuring safe and smooth movement despite ongoing challenges with federal road infrastructure.
According to the advisory, travelers from Lagos and Ibadan are to take the Iwaraja – Efon – Ipole – Ikogosi – Erijiyan – Ilawe – Ado Ekiti route. Those coming from Akure should use Akure – Igbara-Oke – Igbara-Odo – Ilawe – Ado Ekiti, while travelers from Abuja are directed through Kabba – Irun-Akoko – Iro-Ekiti – Isinbode – Ikole – Igbemo – Ekiti Ring Road – Ado Ekiti.
The government also appealed to the public to disregard misleading reports circulating online about the state of the roads, stressing that interventions are ongoing.
“The State Government will continue to invest in road infrastructure, while also working collaboratively with the Federal Government to ensure the remaining two federal roads, that are yet to be awarded, are fixed,” the statement read.
It further urged road users to remain calm, drive cautiously, and take advantage of the alternative routes as efforts to find lasting solutions continue.
“Travel safely and stay informed,” the advisory concluded.
