A businessman in Bauchi State, Alhaji Nuru Isah, has been arrested for allegedly killing his 24-year-old second wife, Wasila Abdullahi, following a disagreement over the preparation of food for breaking the Ramadan fast.
The incident occurred on March 1, 2025, at their residence near Government Girls College, Fadamam Mada Area, Bauchi.
Sources revealed that a dispute erupted over the handling of ingredients and fruits meant for iftar, which reportedly led to the alleged assault.
According to preliminary investigations, Isah allegedly struck his wife with a cane, causing her to collapse.
She was immediately rushed to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, where she was confirmed dead by medical personnel.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Bauchi State Police Command, CSP Ahmed Wakil, stated that the police were alerted to the alleged homicide and promptly launched an investigation.
“The suspect has been apprehended, and the cane allegedly used in the assault has been recovered as evidence,” Wakil disclosed.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Musa Muhammad, assured the public that the matter would be thoroughly investigated, emphasizing the Command’s commitment to justice.
“We will ensure that due process is followed and that justice is served. This case underscores the need to address domestic violence and promote peaceful conflict resolution in homes,” Muhammad said.
The Bauchi Police Command also reminded the public of the severe consequences of domestic violence, urging individuals to prioritize peaceful cohabitation.
“Collectively, we can foster a community that prioritizes respect, empathy, and understanding,” the police added.
