The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, So-Safe Corps, has arrested a 21-year-old bricklayer, identified as Ismaila Mustapha Sunday, for allegedly stealing railway track steel in Idiroko, Ipokia Local Government Area of the State.
According to a statement from the office of the State Commander of the Corps, Commander (Dr.) Soji Ganzallo, and made public by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander of Corps Adegunwa Adegbuyi, the suspect was apprehended in the early hours of Friday, November 1, 2025, at about 5:20 a.m.
Ganzallo explained that a surveillance team led by the Director of Anti-Arms Smuggling, ACC Abdulkareem Abdulrazak, sighted the suspect at Ayedun quarters beside the ram market in Idiroko, attempting to sell the stolen railway track steel to scrap dealers.
He said, “The suspect, a bricklayer by profession, was sighted on a motorcycle at the point of arrest. On sighting our officers, the rider bolted with his bike, but fortunately, the suspect was subdued while also trying to escape.”
The Commander added that during preliminary investigation, the suspect confessed to stealing five pieces of railway track steel and one bundle of binding wires from the workshop of one Ogunbambi Adigun at Kanisuru, Idiroko. The workshop owner, according to Ganzallo, confirmed the theft.
Dr. Ganzallo further stated that the suspect and the recovered exhibits have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Idiroko Divisional Headquarters, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
