The Youth Party has elected a business lawyer and politician, Hon. Goke Kuye, as its candidate for the Ogun Central Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Kuye emerged through a unanimous endorsement by delegates during the party’s primary election held in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
Delegates from Ifo, Ewekoro, Obafemi Owode, Abeokuta South, Odeda and Abeokuta North Local Government Areas participated in the exercise and endorsed Kuye as the party’s sole candidate for the senatorial contest.
Speaking shortly after his emergence, Kuye appreciated party leaders and delegates for the confidence reposed in him, describing the endorsement as a call to greater service.
He pledged to champion people oriented legislation and provide quality representation if elected into the Senate.
Kuye said, “I am deeply honoured by the confidence the delegates and members of our great party have reposed in me through this unanimous endorsement. This is not just a victory for me as an individual, but a victory for the ideals of credible leadership, accountability and purposeful governance.
“I accept this responsibility with utmost humility and a strong commitment to serve the people of Ogun Central with integrity, dedication and transparency. Together, we will build a future that guarantees opportunities for our youths, supports businesses, improves education and strengthens the welfare of our people.”
He also promised to prioritise youth empowerment, economic growth, education, healthcare and improved welfare for residents across the senatorial district.
Addressing party faithful at the event, the Ogun State Chairman of the Youth Party, Mrs. Olamide Okunowo, commended delegates for conducting what she described as a peaceful and transparent primary election.
Okunowo said the emergence of Kuye reflected the party’s commitment to internal democracy and credible leadership.
According to her, “Today’s primary election has once again demonstrated that the Youth Party remains committed to transparency, unity and democratic principles. The peaceful conduct of delegates and the unanimous endorsement of Hon. Goke Kuye show the level of confidence members have in his leadership capacity and vision for Ogun Central.
“We are convinced that he possesses the competence, experience and passion needed to effectively represent the people and advance the development of the district. I urge all party members and supporters to remain united and committed as we prepare for the 2027 general elections.”
The primary election was witnessed by representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission led by Alhaja Akinwande of the Election and Party Monitoring Department, alongside party officials, observers and supporters from across Ogun Central Senatorial District.
