The historic Olumo Rock in Abeokuta has continued to draw a massive influx of visitors after Governor Dapo Abiodun announced a two-month free entry period to the renovated tourist site.

The governor had in July commissioned the newly renovated Olumo Rock Tourism Complex, declaring that entry would remain free of charge until the end of September 2025.

Since the announcement, the landmark has witnessed a surge of tourists, fun-seekers and residents who have taken advantage of the waiver to explore the ancient rock.

Olumo Rock, one of Nigeria’s most iconic heritage sites, has long been a symbol of history, culture and tourism in Ogun State.

The renovation, according to government officials, was aimed at upgrading facilities and making the complex more attractive to both local and international tourists.

Speaking during the commissioning in July, Abiodun said his administration was committed to promoting tourism and preserving cultural heritage for future generations.

“Olumo Rock is not just a tourist attraction, it is a monument of history and pride for the people of Ogun State,” he said.

With the free entry window, many visitors have described the experience as a rare opportunity to enjoy one of the country’s major tourist destinations without financial barriers.
