The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has demanded the immediate release of popular TikToker Olumide Ogunsanwo, also known as SeaKing, who was re-arrested on Thursday at the Lagos State court premises and taken to Abuja.

Speaking during a church program on Friday, February 7, Adeboye disassociated himself from the arrest, clarifying that it was carried out by individuals angered by SeaKing’s remarks.

He urged the Nigerian police to release the social media influencer, stating, “He is fulfilling prophecy.”

Adeboye: ‘I Had No Hand in His Arrest’

Addressing the controversy surrounding SeaKing’s arrest, Adeboye emphasized that he had no involvement in the matter.

“I heard that someone lambasted me thoroughly. What is my offence? Because I asked my people to fast for 100 days? I didn’t ask him. I didn’t even ask anyone who isn’t a member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God to fast—only my children! God said it would happen.

“I was told that some people got angry and went to arrest the fellow. Release him. He is fulfilling prophecy,” Adeboye declared.

SeaKing was initially arrested on allegations of cyberbullying but was later re-arrested in Lagos and transferred to Abuja for further investigation.

Sowore Condemns Arrest, Questions Police Conduct

The arrest of SeaKing has drawn criticism from human rights activist Omoyele Sowore, who described the actions of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) as “disheartening, disgusting, and frightening.”

Sowore, alongside lawyers Adeyanju Deji and Marshal D. F. Abubakar, visited the Federal Investigation Department (FID) of the Nigeria Police Force to inquire about Ogunsanwo’s detention.

They were informed that the arrest was linked to a petition allegedly filed on behalf of Pastor Adeboye by a Christian association, represented by Paul James Adama.

In a statement on his X handle, Sowore questioned how a TikTok video could be considered a form of cyberbullying against a figure as prominent as Pastor Adeboye.

“We just departed the DIG Dasuki Galandanchi-led Federal Investigation Department (FID) of the Nigeria Police Force, where we met Olumide Ogunsanwo, aka @seaking303. He was in the company of police officers who had traveled to Lagos to kidnap him.

“To our surprise, they disclosed that Olumide’s recent ordeal resulted from alleged cyberbullying against Pastor E.A. Adeboye in a TikTok session @seaking303 did in December of 2024,” Sowore wrote.
