As Muslim faithful in Ogun State and across Nigeria prepare for the Eid-Kabir celebration, the Ogun State Police Command has assured residents of enhanced security and a peaceful festive period.

In a press statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, and released from the Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, Ph.D., disclosed that comprehensive security architecture has been activated across the state.

“We have deployed extensive motorized patrol and tactical assets across the length and breadth of Ogun State,” CP Ogunlowo said. “Our goal is to ensure a crime-free and peaceful Eid-Kabir celebration for all residents.”

Specialized units such as the SWAT, Monitoring, Anti-Kidnapping, and Anti-Cultism squads have been strategically stationed to prevent any form of violent crime, while police presence will be visible around prayer grounds, public facilities, banks, and recreation centers.

To strengthen response in high-risk areas, extended joint patrols are being conducted in coordination with sister security agencies. Key flashpoints mentioned include Onigari, Ayetoro, Ijebu-Ode, Sagamu Interchange, Long Bridge, Alapako, Ogunmakin, and Abeokuta. Stop-and-search operations are also being carried out to deter criminal activities.

Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), under the supervision of Area Commanders, will maintain security in their respective jurisdictions, while border towns will be secured through joint task force operations.

CP Ogunlowo also used the opportunity to extend his greetings to Muslim faithful in the state.

“I felicitate with all Muslims on this sacred occasion of Eid-Kabir. Let us all reflect the essence of peace and sacrifice during this period,” he added.

Residents were further encouraged to cooperate with security operatives and report any suspicious movement or persons. For emergencies, the public can contact the Command through the following numbers:
09159578888, 09062837609, 09120141706, 09151027369, 07084972994
