The Federal Government has declared Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, as public holidays to mark the celebration of Eid-ul-Adha, one of the most significant festivals in the Islamic calendar.

This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in an official statement released on Monday.

While congratulating Nigerian Muslims both at home and in the Diaspora, Tunji-Ojo urged the Islamic faithful to reflect on the values that define the Eid celebration.

“I congratulate all Muslims across the nation and in the Diaspora on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha. It is a time to reflect on the virtues of sacrifice, obedience, and unshakeable faith exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him),” the minister stated.

He further encouraged Nigerians of all faiths to use the festive season to pray fervently for peace, unity, and national progress.

“This season presents an opportunity for us as a people to pray for our dear country. Let us remember that our strength lies in our unity,” he added.

Speaking on the direction of the current administration, Tunji-Ojo reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to the welfare of Nigerians under the Renewed Hope Agenda championed by President Bola Tinubu.

“The people-centered reforms and initiatives we are driving are part of our collective journey to reposition Nigeria and restore it to the path of greatness. We ask for your continued support,” the statement emphasized.
