The Chief Executive Officer of Air Peace, Dr. Allen Onyema, has described the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport as one of the best in the world, praising its infrastructure and operational readiness.

Onyema, who arrived at the airport on Saturday at about 10 a.m. aboard a Boeing 737 aircraft with a 120-passenger capacity, commended the airport’s apron, runway, and terminal building, emphasizing that the facility met international standards.

“This is the first time a Boeing 737 is landing here, and as an aviator, I can categorically state that this is one of the best airports in the world,” he said. “We need to stop neglecting our own and appreciate the level of work put into this project.”

He further noted that the airport was well-equipped to handle both domestic and international flights and could accommodate larger aircraft, such as the Boeing 777. Onyema assured the state of Air Peace’s willingness to partner with the airport once it commences commercial operations.

Expressing optimism about the facility’s future, he said, “This airport has the potential to become a major hub for pilgrims and travelers across the country. It is a strategic investment that will drive economic and social development in Ekiti and beyond.”

Airport Ready for Full Commercial Operations – Officials

The Technical Adviser to the Governor on the Airport Project, Mr. Sunday Makinde, affirmed that the seamless landing of the Boeing 737 demonstrated the airport’s readiness for full commercial operations.

“This milestone confirms that the airport has the capacity to handle large aircraft and deliver seamless aviation services,” Makinde said.

Similarly, the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Taiwo Olatunbosun, described the project as a game-changer for the state.

He stated, “The successful landing of this aircraft is a testament to Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s commitment to infrastructure development, economic growth, and improved connectivity for Ekiti State.”
