The Ekiti State Government has announced plans to produce a movie centered on the historic Ekiti Parapo War, a significant event that symbolizes the Ekiti people’s resilience and triumph over oppression.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji approved the project, which is expected to celebrate the state’s cultural heritage while showcasing its creative potential.

The collaborative effort is being spearheaded by the Ekiti State Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy under the leadership of Commissioner Rasaki Ojo Bakare.

The project is in partnership with AL Notions Film Company, owned by renowned Nollywood actors Lateef and Adebimpe Adedimeji.

The governor, in a post shared on his Instagram handle on Tuesday, January 28, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership and the opportunities it will bring to the state.

He wrote: “I held a fruitful meeting with Nollywood stars, Lateef #adedimejilateef and Adebimpe Adedimeji #mo_bimpe yesterday.

“The focus of our discussion was a groundbreaking collaboration to produce a world-class film on the historic Ekiti Parapo War.

This project aims to celebrate our heritage, tell our story, and position Ekiti as a hub for cultural and creative excellence.

“I am excited about the possibilities this partnership brings and confident it will not only honour our history but also open new opportunities for our local talents and communities. Together, we are making Ekiti’s rich legacy shine brighter.”

The movie, which will be fully funded by the private sector, will utilize Ekiti towns and villages as primary shooting locations, providing a platform for local talents and communities to contribute to the state’s creative industry.

Adebimpe Adedimeji, who hails from Ijero-Ekiti, shared her excitement about leading the project alongside her husband.

“This is more than just a film project; it is an opportunity to preserve and showcase our rich cultural heritage to the world,” she remarked during the discussions.
