The immediate past Ogun State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Adijat Adeleye, has emerged as the All Progressives Congress consensus candidate for the Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.

A statement personally signed by Adeleye on Thursday disclosed that she had also picked her nomination and expression of interest forms for the House of Representatives seat, promising inclusive and quality representation for constituents across Ifo and Ewekoro local government areas.

The former lawmaker, who represented Ifo Constituency II in the Ogun State House of Assembly between 2007 and 2015, emerged as the party’s consensus candidate during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Ibara GRA residence of APC chieftain, Chief Joju Fadairo.

The meeting was attended by notable party leaders, including former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo; former member representing Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency, Adekunle Adeyemi; APC apex leader in Ewekoro Local Government, Bode Adeaga; former Majority Leader of the Assembly, Shina Adegbenro, among others.

Reacting to her emergence, Adeleye expressed appreciation to the leadership of the party and stakeholders for the confidence reposed in her.

She said, “I am deeply humbled and sincerely grateful to acknowledge my emergence as the consensus candidate for Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency under our great party, the All Progressives Congress.

“This significant moment reflects a process anchored on consultation, dialogue, and the sincere commitment of our leaders to unity, fairness, and internal democracy. I receive it not as a personal triumph, but as a collective responsibility entrusted to me by our great party, leaders and party faithfuls I deeply respect.”

The former commissioner commended Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, describing him as a leader and mentor whose commitment to equity and party cohesion had continued to strengthen the APC across the state.

She also appreciated apex leaders and stakeholders within the constituency for their support and belief in her aspiration.

“To those who have consistently believed in my aspiration over the years, and to those who passionately and strategically advocated for equity in representation, I am sincerely grateful. Your voices, conviction, and unwavering support have all shaped my political journey and this present moment,” she added.

Adeleye equally praised other aspirants for the ticket, including the incumbent Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Ibrahim Isiaka, Asiwaju Lateef Adesina, Bashorun Olaniran Olalekan and Dr Ademola Evans, for what she described as their maturity and commitment to party unity.

She maintained that her ambition was driven by the desire to build consensus and ensure every segment of the constituency feels represented.

“As we move into the next phase as structured by our great party, I look forward with great optimism to your continued individual and collective support. I remain committed to serving with humility, inclusiveness, and a strong sense of duty to all constituents of Ifo/Ewekoro,” Adeleye stated.
